Dr. Amy is a visiting assistant professor with an obsession with animal behavior and a love for birds! She is a native of upstate New York and went to Bryn Mawr College, majoring in biology. After a gap year of doing art she enrolled in an Integrative Ecology Ph.D. program at the University of California Davis, where she worked on seabird reproductive ecology and behavior from 2016 to 2023. She completed a postdoc at the University of Nevada Reno on the urban ecology of birds from 2023 to 2024 and was an adjunct at Wilkes University from 2024 to 2026 before moving to her current position.
During the school year she teaches BIO 105 (biology for non-majors), mammalian physiology, and animal behavior. Her research spans two worlds: the behavior, physiology, and ecology of long-term relationships and applied macroecology using large datasets. During the summers you can usually find her in the field, skulking behind a bush in the Wilkes University Ecology preserve or in a blind on a seabird island somewhere.
Outside of work Amy enjoys knitting, gardening, playing really long, complicated board games and D&D, biking, hiking, hanging out with her frogs, cats, fish, and husband, and eating cheese. Her favorite bird is Leach's storm-petrel.
